Dignify: Building a Content Marketplace for African Creators

For independent creators, producing good content is only one part of building a sustainable career. The harder problem is often turning an audience into reliable income without losing control over how content is distributed. This challenge becomes particularly relevant for creators who have audiences spread across local markets and diaspora communities. Dignify is being built around that problem. Developed for Zembera Technologies FZCO, Dignify is a digital content marketplace designed to connect musicians, spoken word artists, educators, and empowerment leaders with audiences across Africa and the diaspora. The platform brings content publishing, payments, fan engagement, and secure digital access into one connected experience.
A content marketplace built around creator monetization
Dignify approaches the creator economy from a monetization-first perspective. Instead of functioning simply as another platform where creators upload content and compete for attention, it gives creators tools to determine how their work is accessed and monetized. Through the creator web portal, creators can complete registration and KYC, upload multimedia content, configure pricing, and monitor earnings through dashboard analytics. The initial MVP is designed to validate demand and creator monetization in Kenya, with a target of onboarding more than 100 verified creators. The monetization model goes beyond a single payment method. Dignify is designed to support pay-per-view content, sponsored unlocks, milestone-based payouts, wallet credits, and diaspora sponsorships. This creates different ways for audiences to pay for content or financially support creators rather than forcing every creator into the same commercial model.
Connecting African creators with diaspora audiences
One of the more distinctive parts of Dignify is the role of diaspora participation. African creators can have audiences and supporters far beyond their immediate geographic markets, but converting that connection into direct financial support can be difficult when the underlying payment and content systems are fragmented. Dignify incorporates diaspora gifting directly into the platform. This allows supporters outside a creator's local market to contribute to content access and sponsorship experiences. Combined with sponsored unlocks and digital payments, this creates a more direct connection between creators and the communities that want to support their work.
For the creator, that means the platform is not solely dependent on advertising or passive content consumption. For the audience, supporting a creator becomes part of the content experience itself. Creator monetization only works when paying users can access content conveniently and creators have reasonable protection over what they sell. Dignify addresses both sides through its mobile application and supporting infrastructure. The Flutter-based fan app is designed to let users browse, pay for, and access creator content through a mobile-first experience. Wallet functionality is integrated into this journey, alongside referral and rewards mechanisms intended to encourage continued engagement. Behind the user experience, paid media is stored securely using AWS S3 with encrypted media storage and device-bound access. This means access to protected content can be tied to the user's device rather than treating a paid media file as an unrestricted download. The approach gives Dignify a stronger technical foundation for distributing monetized digital content while maintaining a convenient experience for fans.
How Kaz Software is building Dignify

Kaz Software is responsible for the full-stack development, quality assurance, deployment, and post-launch support of Dignify. The project covers three connected layers: the creator web portal, the mobile application for fans, and the backend and cloud infrastructure that support payments, content delivery, and platform operations.
The creator-facing web experience is being developed with Next.js, while Flutter powers the mobile application. MongoDB provides the database layer, with AWS serving as the cloud infrastructure and AWS S3 handling media storage. The platform also incorporates payment gateway integrations and encrypted content delivery.
Development follows an Agile process with two-week sprints covering planning, development, review, and testing. The result is a technology foundation designed around the actual commercial model of Dignify rather than treating monetization, payments, and content security as features to be added later. Dignify represents an interesting direction for digital content platforms in Africa because its central question is not simply how creators can reach more people. It is how technology can make the relationship between creators and the people willing to support them more direct, secure, and economically meaningful.
