LMS for Garment Factories in Bangladesh: Safety and Workplace Training

Disclosure: Kaz Software publishes this guide and builds the DTCLMS learning platform. We have tried to keep the advice useful whichever vendor you choose.

A factory floor is not an office. People work in shifts, many do not have a work email or a company laptop, and training often has to be shown to buyers, auditors or programme partners. An LMS can help, if it is set up for that reality.

What the floor looks like for an LMS

  • Shift work: training has to fit around lines and shifts.

  • Shared or no personal devices: a training-room tablet or a shared phone may be the only option.

  • Large numbers in few places: bulk enrolment by line, shift or department matters.

  • Different reading levels: some lessons work better as short audio or picture-based modules than as long text.

  • Supervisors need visibility: they should see who has finished and who has not.

  • Bangla first: lessons, quizzes and certificates should work in Bangla. See Bangla and English LMS: What Universities and Trainers Need.

Check what your buyers, certifiers and regulators actually require. An LMS can store the evidence, but it cannot decide what the rule is. More on the record-keeping side is in LMS for Compliance Training in Bangladesh: What to Look For.

Practical set-up ideas

  • Sign-in by worker ID rather than email.

  • A shared training-room device with quick sign-out.

  • Supervisor-led sessions where the supervisor records attendance in the LMS.

  • Short modules that can be completed in one sitting.

  • Reminders to supervisors as well as to workers.

A project from our own work

Kaz Software built a compliance platform with an integrated LMS for a maternity-protection programme in Bangladesh's garment sector. The client is not named here. The pattern is relevant to any factory: assign the right training, track it, and keep a record that can be shown.

Questions for a vendor

  • Can workers sign in without an email address?

  • Can a supervisor record attendance for a group session?

  • Can I see overdue training by line or department in one view?

  • How are certificates verified?

  • Does the platform work well on the phones our workers actually use?

Frequently asked questions

Can workers without email use an LMS?

Yes, if the platform lets them sign in with an employee ID or another identifier. Check this before you buy.

Do we need a mobile app?

Not necessarily. A mobile-friendly website can work. Test it on the phones your workers use.

Can an LMS replace paper attendance sheets?

It can record attendance and completion, but your auditors and buyers decide what evidence they accept.
