A new frontier in VR gaming

Rethinking interaction and gameplay for an immersive VR experience

A first-person VR shooter built for HTC VIVE, exploring immersive interaction, usability, hardware integration, and new approaches to virtual reality game design.

Taking game development beyond the screen

Kaz Software’s first VR project explored immersive gameplay through a first-person shooter built specifically for HTC VIVE.

What VR gaming demanded from Kaz Software’s first immersive project

The goal was to create a first-person shooter for HTC VIVE that pushed the boundaries of immersive gameplay while giving Kaz Software a foundation for exploring future VR projects. The project required high performance alongside interaction patterns designed specifically for virtual reality.

The immersive VR experience we built for HTC VIVE

Kaz Software developed the VR game using Unity and C#, while rethinking interaction design around the immersive nature of VR. The team introduced interface-based abstraction to make the core logic adaptable across evolving VR hardware and used continuous usability testing and rapid iteration to refine interactions.

The Challenge

VR required Kaz Software to rethink familiar GUI and interaction patterns from scratch. Hardware variation across platforms added another layer of complexity, while natural human expectations around movement and object interaction meant even small usability issues could become immediately noticeable inside an immersive environment.

Hardware Variability

The experience needed an architecture that could adapt across evolving VR platforms.

Natural Interactions

Real-world expectations shaped how players expected objects and movements to behave.

Rapid Feedback

Frequent testing and iteration were essential because immersion exposed usability issues immediately.

The Outcome

Kaz Software successfully used its first VR project to explore immersive game development while establishing new approaches to interaction, usability, and hardware compatibility.

Following development, the project delivered:

01

03

A first-person VR shooter designed specifically around immersive interaction.

A more intuitive gameplay experience shaped through continuous usability testing and iteration.

02

A flexible interaction architecture capable of adapting to different VR hardware.

“VR forced us to rethink many things we took for granted in traditional game development. Kaz Software learned quickly and kept iterating until the experience felt natural.”
