What UNICEF needed to make cyber security practical for teachers

UNICEF Bangladesh needed a cyber security course that could make digital risks understandable and relevant to secondary school teachers. A conventional slide-and-text training module would not provide enough practical experience for topics such as scams, account compromise, cyberbullying, and other everyday online threats. Teachers needed to encounter realistic situations, make decisions, understand the consequences of those choices, and practice recognizing risks before their knowledge was formally assessed.

The interactive cyber security course we built for UNICEF

Kaz Software developed a fully interactive, story-driven, SCORM-compatible LMS course structured across six modules. A relatable ICT teacher carries the narrative, while a virtual AI companion character, Maya, guides learners through each stage. Short videos, character dialogue, tap-to-explore content, live polls, real-incident case studies, interactive decision points, simulated scam exercises, and instantly scored quizzes turn cyber security concepts into active learning experiences. The course is designed to work smoothly on both mobile phones and desktop devices.

The Challenge

The challenge was transforming cyber security from a technical subject into something teachers could recognize in their everyday lives. The course needed to explain digital threats without becoming an information-heavy lecture, while still covering serious situations such as cyberbullying, scams, and compromised accounts. It also had to maintain learner engagement across six modules and work effectively on mobile devices, where the source notes that most teachers are expected to complete the training.
